Meandering rivers cross through the southwest

But there’s one I know of that I think is the best

Found deep in a canyon whose name you might know

So tall and so “Grand” a cool place you can go

Yes, the Colorado river starts high in the hills

And passes by farmlands and townships with mills

Its flow can be gentle like a slow lazy day

Or rage with white rapids as it rolls away

Fish live in its water and bugs on its banks

The creatures of nature who give it their thanks

But the part of the river that I like the best

It’s shaped like a horseshoe, oh you’d be impressed

Its liquids are blue at the start of the night

But emerald in daytime, so sparkling bright

Rising high from the center of the watery shoe

A mountain of sand stone and shale calls to you

From the top of the canyon you won’t see a tree

Gazing left and then right there’s no trace you will see

Just a world of wonder as strange as it’s neat

Playing rhythms of nature with an ongoing beat

So if you get a chance to see Horseshoe Bend

With your Mom and your Dad or your very best friend

Be prepared for one of those really rare scenes

Let the wonders amaze you and make up your dreams
