I have a favorite thing I have seen so many times
Mostly in the spring time as the winter downward winds
But sometimes you can see it in the summer or the fall
Watch right after raindrops stop and the sun becomes a ball
It’s not the puddles on the ground or the wind that’s blowing free
It’s not the whisper of the leaves by a breeze up in a tree
It’s not the croaking of a frog or the song of a cricket’s call
It’s not any of those things, can you guess it after all
It’s filled with colors sometimes bright, sometimes maybe not
Legends say that at its end, gold is sitting in a pot
To spot one is a treasure all its own without that prize
A lofty arc across the sky like a mountain it does rise
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet too
Streaked across a soggy sky is just another clue
Have you guessed it now, just what the prize might be
You’re right, it’s a rainbow, a precious sight to see
All around us art is made by nature at its best
Lush green grass, flowers bright, well you know the rest
But rainbows are for sure the art I love the very most
What is your favorite art, go ahead and boast
